Any leads? - investigation for a documentary film on Gary Leiterman
Hey guys, I am a cinematographer and producer from the Chicago area, who caught wind of the compelling story of Gary Leiterman. I have decided to make it my priority to walk away from the narrative and commercial world in Chicago for awhile, until I get some answers as to why Gary still has not been set free.. My end goal will be to chronicle my findings in an objective documentation, in hopes of forming another tool in setting an innocent man free, and ultimately and more importantly, bringing the real killer of Jean Mixer to justice. So if there is anyone in this forum who can offer any information, I will be in the Ann Arbor area this week beginning my investigation. Thank you all for your time and let's keep fighting the good fight. ✊

Re: Any leads? - investigation for a documentary film on Gary Leiterman
Hi cmcdop, I am a digital forensics examiner in the Seattle area and became interested in Gary's case because of the misuse of forensic evidence, albeit DNA evidence rather than digital evidence. I have recently also been studying other unsolved cases in the Ohio area and noticed similarities between those cases and Gary's case. I am wondering if the murderer identified in an Ohio case that I researched could also have been Jane's true killer. Feel free to email me at ljuedes@hotmail.com. During your research will you be trying to contact Jeffrey Willet? He was the young man who saw Jane's killer leaving Denton Cemetery and his testimony is in the transcript, Day one, beginning on page 92. I am especially interested in his description of what he saw that night because he described the man he saw as being "he was almost even--evenly head wise as far as the top of the car." The suspect in the other, Ohio, murder is extremely short and was very small of stature at the time, unusually so. I checked and this station wagon would have been about 5' high so the height of the person that Jeffry saw that night fits the description of my suspect. The hair color also matches. However, Gary's defense attorney seems to have done a very poor job at cross examination of this witness. In his testimony, Jeffrey said, "They wouldn't look at me. What they did is they kind of shuffled behind the car." Yet, both the prosecutor and the defense attorney ignored the pronoun and acted like there was only one person seen at the cemetery. If the driver of the car was only about 5' tall, then I doubt if he would have been able to remove Jane's body from the car and position it in the cemetery alone, he must have had help. This never was explained at trial. If you interview Jeffrey for your film could you ask him how many people he saw leaving the cemetery that night? Was it only the driver? If so, why did he refer to one person as "they" in his trial testimony?

Hey ljuedes, my apologies for the delayed response. Your information on Jeffrey Willet is very intriguing. Thank you for that lead. I will email you with more. Thanks again.
